I've been playing golf for around 8 months, and I've always wondered where people got the little ball marker pin thingies. Well, I bought a new $4 glove yesterday and I was using it today. Around the 9th hole I looked down on my glove and saw what looked like a button. But, it doesn't actually do any button like duties! So I start fiddling around with it and eventually pull it off.

AH HA! I figured out where the ball markers come from.

Doh! 😱

Wow. I'll bet you don't know the trick with the "VW" symbol on the Golfs, either?

It pulls off and becomes a mini-stool to sit on while you change a flat. It's big in Germany where the Gentlemen don't like getting dirty doing "menial tasks" like changing a flat.

Really.

I use ball markers we get at playing in tournaments. They are usually ideal. Dimes work too.

Anyways... wtf glove did you get for $4?!. I would imagine that it wouldnt last as long as some of the better brands like Footjoy or Slazenger

Please don't say you're kidding because if you do I am pretty sure I'll start crying.

No tears please. That one WAS pretty good, eh?😀

I hate to break this to you, but marking your ball with that thing on your glove is kind of like telling people that you use AOL. It marks you as a newbie that hasn't learned any better. Real golfers remove their glove when putting and just use an ordinary coin. Try a dime or a penny, it's bad manners to use a quarter or anything larger. A Krugerrand is okay though, it's large, but it has class.

I generally use a dime. It's less likely to send a ball way off line since they're so thin. The little button thing on the glove sits up too high and is too hard to find IMO.

Blah blah blah...real golfers...blah blah blah...I've been playing for eight freaking months...throw me a fricken bone here! 🙂 I've got a bronze thing about the size of a quarter that I got at a golf tournament that I use to mark normally. Or, if I have trouble finding it, I just grab whatever loose change I have floating around in my pocket. I just never new that those little things came from your glove.

Exactly, you're new, that's why I'm trying to help. Golf is a hard game and you're not going to BE good at this stage, so it's important to try to look good. Use a coin to mark your ball, remove your glove when putting, whenever you miss a putt tap down an imaginary spike mark, buy a $1500 set of irons and a $500 driver to hit shanks and ground balls, plumb-bob those 2 foot putts for 9 and whenever you hit a good shot react with boredom instead of shock. Adopt the mannerisms of a real golfer and you'll be able to fool a lot of people into thinking that you're a pro. Well, at least until they see you swing, you can't fake that part. But at least half the people on any course are poseurs, you can really impress them if you learn to fake the rest of it well enough.

You silly silly man.😀

Congratulations...so 8 months in, how're you playing? what clubs? Handicap?

Uhhh....tough to say, I'll have a couple really good days, and then not so good days. On average though, I normally shoot about ~50-54 for 9 holes. On a good day I'll shoot ~47 for nine, and on a bad, and I mean really bad I'll shoot in the mid 60's.

Last couple times I've gone out I've shot between 100 and 110 for 18 holes. Really depends on how well I'm teeing off. Last couple of days I've switched up my tee off routine and have been smoking my drives, really setting me up with a nice second shot, and I've been drilling bogeys(which I'm happy to take at this point in time 🙂). What kills me are the little par threes that are way far right of the tee box...I'm a lefty and it just feels really awkward to try and shoot that way.

As for chubs...I just have a craptastic set of Dunlop drivers that I got from my $110 starter set. And I use the pitching wedge and 8 iron from that set. The rest of my irons are a set of used Ping Eye 2's that I picked up a couple weeks ago.

Fausto's seen me golf....and it wasn't pretty. But I've got quite a bit better since then 🙂

Baah.. I've been golfing for about 10 years now and I still leave my glove on when I putt. I tried w/out it and it feels weird to me which throws off my putt.

Disclaimer: I never said I was any good. 😛 😀
