Well, one of many friends asked me to help him setup a router. Im not exactly a network guru but I have setup networks before and I know enough to get by. So I came over and plugged in every thing that need to be plugged in but I couldn't get the internet to work. After trying everything I knew, I tried putting it back the way it was (modem was connecting directly to his computer, which was a mac). But when I connected it back up... nothing would work again. I reset his modem a few times... Restarted his computer a few times... But nothing would work. So I had to explain to him what happened. He wasn't really mad. He said he'd just get is dad to call up Bellsouth and get it back up again. I fell bad for messing it up though:(

By the way, new family guy on in a few minutes;)

Nice job.

Could the modem get an IP?

What level of trouble shooting did you do?

Yeah. No Internet at all. He couldn't get an ip, and everytime he clicked on internet explorer he had to put in his username and password but it kept on saying that it was wrong. I dont know what happned. This kind of makes me appreciate having comcast.

Sounds like you did not spoof the MAC address.

A phone call would have fixed that pretty easily.

That whole router and modem setup/connection can be confusing. I think I get much of the gist now. However, my first experience was difficult with the whole PPPoE thing..
