I feel a little bit like a jerk

My niece had a performance event that I went to where my sister and BIL got tickets for everyone. After the event was over we all left and I pretended not to notice my mom giving them money for her ticket. Why? Well my sister and I agreed to split a present for my aunt for Christmas and we split a hotel room for a night after a relative passed away. And by split I mean I paid for both, mentioned payment a couple of times but was never paid back. It wasn't a big enough deal to me to keep pursuing but I also didn't feel like paying for my ticket. (It would be different if they were hurting for money)

While I wouldn't change my decision I still feel a little bit like a jerk

When your sister bought the tickets was there any understanding that you would pay for yours or was it a case of proud parents wanting you to see your niece in action?

Payment was never discussed or asked for. Regardless under normal circumstances I would offer so its the departure from that norm that makes me feel a little bad

Personally I'd pay for the ticket, do so with a snide comment about paying your debts and reclaim the moral high ground. And you get the bonus of then making the other party feel like the jerk.

If payment was never discussed, it was a gift. Enjoy it. Linking it to past bad faith creates unnecessary bad feeling.

I don't know why you feel like a jerk? Maybe this is part of their "paying you back for the unpaid debt?" Though I know it's not an equal situation, but would you have gone to the event anyway, if you had paid for it yourself? Seems to me that there is a time when people need to stop counting certain debts to others, because they aren't entirely equal from one debt to another, quality of life be damned. Also, I find it strange to rate family relationships, to any degree, based on debts owed between members (Of course, I'm not talking about outstanding loans in the thousands or tens of thousands...that's obviously different)

Try to only keep track of stuff that matters. It's in our nature to kind of "keep score" to prevent ourselves from being abused, but too much of that leads to unnecessary stress.

Unless your niece was in a performance of Hamilton, the assumption is the tickets would be paid for as a gift to entice you to come. No jerk found.

Hey, I was nice and didn't call 911 for your lady friend. Rabid Santa's on the loose and all.

And I met one ATOTer last month. Might meet another next. So there ain't nothing keeping me from showing up on your door step in September looking for a little hug.

Hard for me to tell the difference 'tween a lovers quarrel and friendly banter sometimes ....
Does that make me shortsighted? I never wore any glasses other than sunglasses!

I was a very generous lover. The full 9 inches and a reach around every single time. But highland let himself go, stopped shaving his legs, and refused to wear a bra even when his man tits starting sagging. So sad.

We'll always have Cleveland, though.

You asshole. Make me log in in the evening. I'd better not get any infractions. I'll try and stay out of P&N.

And, you asshole, I shaved every day and you promised me DDs. But no, you had to pay for your trip. You had to pay for your Santa suit. You had to upgrade your computer so your ban hammer had leds and whistles and a kid skin handle. And your reach around was abysmal. Trump sized and you only used one. WTF? They can't hold this.

I'm quitting you. Try to not hang yourself in a closet. I'm not coming back for zombie dick anyway.

edit: 9" man scale = three fiddy irl.

edit2: I was the one that talked you out of this.

Dang, your day nurses don't even pick up the depends. :( We can crowd fund you out of that shit hole.

You should probably just move in here. We might have to switch roles but I still love you long time.
