So, long story, short........

Tried to connect some Zebra bar-coding printer up today(at work). FAIL!!! I plugged it into a nearby print server (Linksys PSUS4) which I never did find the IP address for. Except for the printers already hooked up which I could see on "Printers and Faxes" (XP) I couldn't see this thing for nothin. In fact.....even though I knew 2 other printers were TCI/IP port printers on 192.168.3.100 and 192.168.3.101, I couldn't see them via browser either.

Admittedly I'm not a network guy & network printing has always been less than easy for me but this was ridiculous. I gave up til tomorrow.

P.S. Reason for the 192.168.3.xxx is because the office I run is a 3rd location on a VPN network. This printer has to be on the network cuz I will be creating bar code labels via a server 900 miles away.

I was told I don't need the printer driver if I just set it up as 192.168.3.102 but I can't see it to assign it ANYTHING. I'm confuzzled 🙁

What is the model number of the Zebra printer? www.zebra.com has product manuals for all Zebra printers. Just select "Printers" then choose the model number of your printer and it will give you the manuals (including configuration instructions) that you select for the printer.

Ya, it's brand new so the manual's somewhere in the box but I had assumed I didn't necessarily need it if I could see it, assign it a port (192.168.3.102) but I guess I need to go back to square one.

I also think it's gonna need a driver, personally. There's one included on cd but I was told not to use it. Another was fed to my local server & I was told to use that one, but then not to.

Zebra's printers can be pretty funky sometimes. Some of them are easy to set up, some of them are a major headache. I'd really recommend looking at the manual to see what it says about setting up the printer that you have.
