i got a $30 ticket this morning because i have my parking decal taped to the inside of my back window instead of bonded to the outside of my back window or my bumper.

i just bought a new car in november and i'm not about to ruin the paint or gunk up the window with these stupid decals.

i placed the decal exactly where it should be in my window, but that's not good enough. The Clemson University parking a-holes have to ticket things like this instead of people illegally parking in handicapped spaces or parking on sidewalks.

good job Clemson, i'm now that much happier that i get the hell out of here in 2 months. :|

As you leave from your 8:00-10:00 class, untape your parking sticker, and hand it to your friend coming for his 10:30-12:00 class.

Not saying you actually did this, but you see why they have the rule.

We get parking passes that hang from the rearview mirror here, and I get a staff parking pass, for free. But I walk here anyway.

we used to get hang tags, or even the option of the decal or hang tag.

i'm actually surprised they were out writing tickets this morning since it's raining.

<----- no real respect for Clemson anymore

Did they inform you about all these rules beforehand?

In that case, you could have easily asked the parking services people or even simply write a couple of emails about it to clarify. And even now, if I were you, I would just send an email or quickly make a phone call to talk about this.

Ranting in ATOT won't solve anything.

I think it's just a rent-a-cop power trip thing. Our "security" forces here at the CDC do the same kind of crap....ticketing you for not affixing the sticker in the right way...backing into a parking spot, etc.

i got a ticket for doing the same thing. i went to the park services office and basically... they walked out to my car with me and said if i applied the decal on my windows right there on the spot, they will waive the ticket. maybe u can get the same deal. good luck.

I've always wondered why backing in is such a problem. It's the safest way to park actually. A lot easier to judge where stationary cars are when you're backing up than it is to judge where moving cars are. With the exception of angled parking on a street, I always back into my parking spot. When I was a Valet it was required that we back the cars into the spots.

Fight the ticket. They can't enforce you to physically bond the sticker to the surface of your vehicle. Lots of people (from other universities) usually just tape the sticker inside the rear window. Heck, they even sell plastic "envelopes" for the purpose of inserting the parking sticker in, then applying it to the inside of the rear window. To me, it sounds like the parking enforcement officer ought to look for the real offendors. 🙁

I have no idea. But it's apparently in "the rules" and our security guys, being the pedantic morons that they are, don't question stupid rules.....they just dish out tickets. Another good example of this: we had a fire drill yesterday. This means everyone goes outside and stands around until we get the "all-clear" and then go back inside. The security clone on duty at the entrance I came out of wanted to make all 4-500 people in my "evacuation area" go through the metal detector, one at a time, on our way back in. This despite the fact that we had all gone through one that morning on our way into the building and were standing in a confined area 100 ft from the building we just came out of and couldn't possibly grab a gun or something. 😕 I walked right past it and told him to go f*ck himself.
