There are currently about 76000 registered users of the Anandtech Forum, lets say that 10% of the registered users sign up as subscribers:
(76000*0.10)*$2.50per month = $19,000.00 per month or $228,000.00 per year of revenue from the forums alone. If subscribing becomes very popular you can just imagine the revenue that will be generated.
Now I'm no expert in what the costs are in maintaining a forum system like this but we all know what kind of hardware is serving the forum and there is not much invested in that. I'm sure the bandwidth charges are pretty high, but I bet they are not too bad...if they were the site would have gone under by now.
I don't want to sound cheap or be a sour apple but I think we are getting ripped off. If I'm going to invest in Anandtech, I want to know where the money is going.
