I don't think that BMW wanted to really get into the SUV race, so they created the SAV. It also helps with insurance. SUV's are still really expensive as far as insurance goes. BMW's are expensive enough as it is, so if you add a BMW being an SUV... that'd be some serious $$$.

Don't know what the official definition of an SAV is though. Probably along the lines of "Looks and feels like an SUV, but too damn expensive to even think about taking it off road!"

According to bmw's website on the X5 4.6is, the best one I see, it "only" has 340hp with torque at 350@3700rpm while the caddy had 380@4000.

Big enough for me, and I'm 193cm tall! I mean, mostly I would be there alone. My gf would be with me sometimes. S3 can easily have 2 passengers. And if I had more passengers, and they complained that there's no space... Well, tough luck, there's more than enough space behind the wheel and THAT'S what I care about !

Most the sub-compacts have enough space for even a tall guy like me. I really don't have a need for big car (altrough I wouldn't buy a sub-compact. Well, maybe VW Polo).
