Woke up this morning and went into my office as usual and powered up the computer. Immediately a big flash shot out the back followed by smoke, the stench of fried capacitors and burning flesh. I'm thinking: WTF???
Unplugged the computer and immediately determined that the power supply was toasted. When I pulled out the supply and opened the box, I couldn't find anything immediately wrong but the smell was pretty bad. Pulled off one of the circuit boards and flipped it over and the other side was completely charred and welded into the mess was what was left of the body of a small gecko. Death by electrocution!
I live in Cancun and we always have geckos running around the house. I guess one of the smaller ones crawled in through the fan vents in the back and snuggled up against a warm circuit board. Fortunately, it only fried my power supply and not anything else; sure woke me up out of my morning daze though.
