I dunno if I should email this to a mod or post it here

So I guess I'll just post it here.

The user laelb hasn't made any useless posts, but instead either posts "x", "xx", or some random smiley in some thread, just to raise his post count. I dunno if I sound bitchy about this, but I noticed it in one of my threads, and a search revealed absolutely no helpful or even relevant posts, except for one exception.

Dont believe me?

Those are just the first 6 when I did a search for his username.

It's probably none of my business, but the anandtech forums aren't about raising post counts. They're about getting people to laugh at the stupid things you do with your computer ;)

He started this at 9:42pm. He's just been gently reminded what will happen if he does that 'gain.

Pretender: Simply adding the pound sign and the number of the post in the thread will take you directly to that specific post.

Like thusly...

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=32&threadid=285599 will take you just to the thread.

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=32&threadid=285599#4 will take you directly to the post in the thread. In long threads, instead of looking through dozens of posts, you can link directly to the post in question.

If you know all this, then I've wasted my time and I'm sorry.:)

I knew it, but was too lazy to count which post was his. Besides, for us DSL or cable users here, it's easy to just load up a thread in a second then use the Find function in the browser to find his post. For the rest of you, nyah nyah :p

No need to count; just look at the post right before his, right-click the "Next" tab at the bottom of the message, and copy the URL to the clipboard. It'll have the # of the message right in that link.
