I thought this was going to be a thread about Megadeth's opening on their "So far...So good...So what...." album. I am disappoint.

I recognized one of the FO3 GNR songs in Bioshock 2. Needless to say, I was quite giddy and sat there for about five minutes listening to it.

What music genre is this? I was thinking oldies but these seem "older" than that. :p

The Ink Spots are very early R&B, Rock & Roll, and doo-wop. They were doing those genres before they existed.

Fallout 3's music borrows heavily from the Great American Songbook genre. Also known as Jazz Standards. A lot of the songs are show tunes. "Wonderful Guy" is from South Pacific for example.

I've wondered that myself. from what I've read the genres of the time period (20s, 30s, 40s) are generally a little hard to define - swing, big band, jazz, and precursors to R&B (doowop?).

I don't remember if this was in the original GNR soundtrack or if it was in the "There's More Where That Came From" addon, but my favorite song is "Ezekiel Saw De Wheel".

This is the best version I can find on youtube, most of them are choirs and this one is a little too "swingy", but it's okay.

it might be because we did the song for high school chorale and it was totally awesome when it first came up on the radio.

Whatever the genre this is, listening and comparing it to today's music is like night and day. Music now lack any emotion for a lack of a better term.

I love the ink spots.

I also love how every song by them has the same guitar riff, starts off with the lead singing the verse, then the deep-voice guy repeating the verse in spoken word, and then the group singing the verse. Literally every song.
