I just need a video card that will play Crysis and give me better than 20 FPS in COD4. But damn there are too many choices. GTX, GTS, GT, Superclocked/Ultra 640MB 768MB GRRR!

Coming here to get some expert input. I only have a 17" LCD at the moment, but will be upgrading monitor to a 22" "soon". I prefer EVGA or XFX cards., although I'm not sure why 🙂

Maybe something like this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130071 Will it hold me for a couple years?

Wait, is what I would say.
Wait for the ATi HD3850/HD3870 to be released, see how they perform and how they are priced relative to the 8800GT cards.
Wait for 8800GT prices to settle down.

Also, READ ANANDTECH REVIEWS. If you had, you would have seen their comments about the 8800GT.

It's cheaper than the 8800GTS and performs better.

The HD3870 will almost certainly be slower than the 8800GT, but may also be cheaper (it seems like it will be in the UK at least), so you may want to wait a week and see how things shake out.

First off, thank you for the link to the review. Not to sound TOTALLY stupid though (although I am a little 🙂 ) will a PCIe 2.0 work in a "regular" PCIe slot, or do I need a new motherboard? (See, told you I was a little stupid)

Also, Crysis system RECOMMENDED system requirements http://www.dailytech.com/Crysi...vealed/article9227.htm

"Memory 2.0 GB RAM
GPU NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar" Just wondering about the 640 (MBs of RAM I would guess)

PCIe 2.0 cards work fine in a PCIe 1.0 slot, they are 100% backwards compatible.
512MB should also be plenty of RAM for Crysis.

Maybe if you were planning to buy CoH anyway, but that's a high price for a card that's only moderately overclocked. Check to see if Best Buy has a BFG 8800GT OC in stock. It's clocked lower (625/1900) but with the 12% coupon, the price will be under $250.

No, I already have CoH and LOVE it, but I so do not need another copy 🙂 Good lookin' out beatle, and thanks for the suggestion.
