I don't want a friggin shortcut on my Desktop!!!

I've had it with all the idiots who write software and think I just GOTTA have a shortcut to their masterpiece on my Desktop! Well, I don't! Your app is NOT better than all the others, and I DON'T want its ugly shortcut in front of me all the time.

Someone oughta start a petition or sue programmers for their shortcut fetish!

i think you spent more time writing this post then you will ever spend unchecking the box for that option.

No man, I've installed thousands of apps and will install thousands more, so there's a lot of time wasted 😉

Desktop shortcut? That's all? How about the ones that give you a desktop shortcut, a quickbar shortcut, a shortcut button in IE, a program group under the start menu, then a shortcut to the configuration through your control panel?

I don't like desktop shortcuts, but there is a reason for creating them during install -- many users just don't know how to create shortcuts.

Weak rand and wrong forum 🙂

Weak rand eh? Shoulda seeded it better.

That's why the good software ASKS you if you want one or not. Otherwise they'd just put one there every time and then youd' have to go delete it. At least you can just click No and then not worry about.

Come on. Do you really mean you didn't want that free trial of AOL that it also loaded on your computer?

god i hate that. i have to delete and uncheck all the time.

all i keep on my desktop is:
my computer
my documents (changed to a second partition)
my network places and the recycle bin.

Those are just the pron apps you keep clicking on...

Are you really bothered that much by programs asking if you want to install an icon? My god, you have problems.

You realize that some idiot will probably sue the software company b/c they didn't offer a desktop icon or some retarded thing like that.

But despite that, you're pretty lame to feel the need to post something about this and make it public that you hate desktop icons. find something worthwhile to rant about b/c this isn't one of them.

Your post count is low, you should keep it that way by not posting anymore.

That's just a checkbox, not a big deal.

What's worse is when the default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Software company\Publisher\Name of lead programmer's goddaughter\Software title. On both the drive itself and the start menu.
