I don't usually post RANTS, but if I don't, I don't know what I'll do..

So I'm trying to download Adobe Flash Player for Firefox. Load the Adobe website, click on flash player. Click on download and install. Done, right? Pretty simple, right?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO It's not that simple. What do software companies do? Make you download a "download manager" first, then you need to install the download manager, THEN you can download your software..... WTF??? They don't care about the fact that the Flash Player setup file is so small, you can download it in a fraction of a nanosecond...!!

The worst thing of all is what you see when you install the Download manager:

"The getPlus(R) Download, Upload, and Installation Manager is a sophisticated tool for an efficient distribution of digital goods"

They've got the guts to admit that they're making something that should be simple overly "sophisticated".... lol...

Curse the person who invented download managers.

Oh, what's that you're saying? You're saying that if my download gets interrupted I don't need to start over? You're saying that I don't need to waste 5 seconds of my life? Oh, ok.

Guess what: we've all got broadband internet. No disconnects, no slow speeds!!! No NEED for a download manager.

Ok, back to work.

This.. Everything Adobe does that has to do with Flash or PDF is absolute fail. No mobile flash player thats been promised for ages and no 64-bit version.

A PDF program that is 32MB... Really??

Ubuntu - sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
Mandriva - urpmi flash-player-plugin (as root, or set up and use sudo)

This. It really isn't that difficult to find the link on the site where you can download Flash without the download manager.

Yeah.. I'm a software developer. That's one reason my rant is even more relevant... If my boss ever told me: "Arcadio, I need you to develop a Download Manager" . I'll just say "fuck you, boss! I quit!"
