I don't usually post here. But I found a good deal on a really awesome movie on DVD.

C.S. Lewis fans, you gotta buy this if you have a DVD player. Shadowlands starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger is on pre-order at Buy.com for $9.99. No, it's not an action film, but it is a great story.

and new Buy.com customers (hehe like any of those exist here) can save $10 off $30.

Thanks for the deal, good price and it's DVD format. You should post here more often :)

Chronicles of Narnia is an awesome series. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe remains my all-time favorite.

This is a DVD reissue of the movie. I have Shadowlands on DVD (great
movie, BTW) and paid a bit more for it with a great coupon back
in the day when there were great coupons to be had...

iknowcomputers2, its just you! :D Only older dvds are cheaper than VHS tapes. New releases are usually in the $17-22 range (unless you have a coupon of course).

DVDs are cheaper to replicate than VHS tapes. You'll see differences in pricing between studios. Then you'll see more difference in pricing within that studios releases depending upon the content of the DVD. If it's a catalog release with few "extras" they are generally very low cost. For a double disc set with lots of extra content (hence higher overhead) you'll see an increased cost. Most studios are very upfront about their pricing structure on DVD. The notable exception would Buena Vista (Disney) which is hard to peg, as they don't tend to follow any sort of logical pattern.

Yes, but in case you all aren't aware... the movie is about CS Lewis' life, not about Narnia.

Of course I'm aware of that, that's why I recommend it. Great metaphysical "rumblings" in it, and it's pretty accurate from all I've ready about Lewis. Bottomline, it's a fascinating and very well done movie and may very well be Hopkins' best acting job to date (with the exception of SoL).

Maybe this was a fluke but watch out for older movies on DVD that are very cheap (cheep). I had Christmas Vacation on VHS but also got it on DVD from Circuit City for 8.99. It looks TERRIBLE!!! It is all faded and fuzzy like some cheap Walmart vhs movies I've gotten. Be sure to check it out and don't just leave it in the plastic if it is not somewhat recent.
