I don't use a floppy drive/ running Win2k....

and I want to boot up to a command prompt. Is this possible without having to use a CD?

Ideas?

Yes.

You are given the option to hit F8 to bring up the boot menu and go to the Win2K command console/command prompt.

If you are talking about a pure DOS prompt and not the Win2K command prompt, well, it looks like you are stuck, if you don't want to create a bootable CD that loads DOS.

on the cd there is directory called bootfloppy or something like that, in there is a program that creates the win2k bootup floppies

you could also if that works, press f8 at the boot loader and choose to go just to the command prompt

if you want to boot to dos to flash the bios, you have to use a bootable CD.

Can't you hook one up temporarely?

This is why still keep a floppy drive.

i dont have a floppy drive on my main computer either.

thier has only been one time where i've ever needed a floppy in the past year and a half... and even then i found a way around it.

I know this is a little late for you now, but here's what I did on all my XP installs...probably would be the same for 2k. On a clean install I install the w98 DOS version (fat32 support), also the DOS cd driver. Once that is working, I install XP....not as an upgrade, as dual-boot. Now when I boot, I can go to DOS without a floppy, or directly to XP. Works perfect if you need to run DOS programs. Both OSs are on the same "C" partition...no problems.

Out of curiosity, what are you trying to do? Getting into the win2k command prompt should be sufficable to you unless you have some odd needs.
