this *client* calls up because the forwarding for her mailing list is broken. i tell her it should be fixed in two days. she says this is unacceptable, they NEED this list to communicate with people, she's going out of town, she doesn't have 2 days... blah blah blah, wants to talk to my manager. manager isn't in, so i say fine, here is a temporary list you can use. 2 days later... i check the logs... guess what? no message. :|

oh yeah, and people think they are more important then they actually are.

the worst part is she was like "i've worked here for a long time, i know how things work... do you have a number for the admins?" i'm like "no... they prefer not to be contacted" :p

hehe, well it's just a mailing list. that hadn't had messages sent to it for at least a week.. then all of the sudden it's mission critical? :p

i don't mind the urgency or ... people wanting things to work most immediately...
what might get in my way of providing a good service... is their attitude.

if they shovel their rank or paycheck as reason for me to drop my pants..
she ain't gettin' no cookies.

[it's friday... i have no idea what i'm talking about]

i dont' mind urgency either, but when they lie through their teeth to get it, that pisses me off.

well it's a generous estimate... i sent in the request to the unix gurus, and they're generally pretty darn busy with other stuff so things like this get put on the backburner sometimes. i reality it would have probably only taken a day (which is the case) but i said 2 to be safe.

Unfortunately prevarication is no longer considered a major offense by most people these days. They routinely dream up countless reasons why their lies are "justified". It all boils down to selfishness and irresponsibility IMHO. :(
