Watching a 1.5-2hr movie on a 3inch screen? Sounds painful to me. I could barely watch 30 minutes of a movie on those 7inch screen portable dvd players before getting restless. I have a 6.5inch screen with dvd player in my car and even then I still watch less than 5% of dvds on it. The screens are just too small to fully enjoy a good movie on, not to mention how tough it is to find a position comfortable enough to watch a full lenght movie in. I would say the minimum screen size for me to enjoy the movie would be on a standard size laptop.
 
When I start commuting on reigonal rail, you had better believe I'll be watching my downloaded tv shows on one (sopranos, top gear, star trek)

Because USAir would not let me take my 42in plasma and home theater system on the plane.

Think man, of course people do not sit at home on their couch, with a perfectly good tv in front of them, and choose to watch a movie on say an iPod. 😛
 
Video players like iPod, Zen and soon, Zune (hah), are portable. So you can sit in the park or somewhere and enjoy a movie. I had two hours of free time at work last night - if i'd had an iPod video, I could have watched some of my DVRed shows. Or a divx movie.
 
lemme see if I can give you a few reasons why ppl like me choose to watch movies/tv shows/etc on portable media players.

1) On long bus ride to work or home
2) On plane trips
3) At work during lunch
4) Sometimes in the car I let my daughter watch some Dora the Explorer or other educational tv shows
5) Sometimes when I'm out shopping with my fiancee, I hate walking around all over the store with her (Walmart, Target, grocery store, etc...) so I go to the food court order a drink and watch an episode of Family Guy, News Radio, Battlestar Gallactica, etc...
6) In line at the bank

I have a full blown home theater I'd much rather watch my shows on, but when on the go why not watch it on my PMP?
