I recently got a Mitsubishi 2020u monitor(hooked to my AIW Radeon) from another member here, so today I thought I would play around with a multi-monitor setup. I installed my favorite little V3 2000 PCI into my rig and hooked it up to my 19" Optiquest and booted up into XP. Enabled the display and "yes" we have dual monitors up and running no problems. Checked it out and "yes" we can run different refresh/resolution in the two monitors "this is cool" So I fire up a DVD full screen and set my Mitsu @ 800x600@60hz and enabled TV-out "Yes" we have a DVD playing full screen in the Mitsu and the TV, and I've got a web browser on my Opti @ 1024x768@85 hz "I'm liken this"
so I get to thinking, hey "My Mitsu has BNC connectors (using them from the Radeon) and a VGA connector (thought that would be cool for working on my friend's rigs, it is!) Maybe I could hook the VGA to my V3 2000 and just switch between them with the BNC/D-SUB button...hmmmm.
Shut down, hooked the V3 to the Mitsu VGA connector and rebooted. Installed the *.inf file for the Mitsu on the secondary diplay, cranked it up to 1600x1200 @ 85hz and here I am, DVD playing on the TV with my AIW Radeon (original) and typing an AT Post in my Browser on my Mitsu. 1 CRT + 1TV display, different resolutions/refresh rates. Push the button goes to the Movie, push it again goes to the Browser.
You have to have a monitor with either 2 VGA, or 1 BNC and VGA connectors for it to work (bummer) but if you do, It works!
UPDATE: Extending the desktop to the secondary monitor breaks the TV/Video Capture, I have to disable it in display properties, then all is well. So with the secondary video card enabled, no TV or capturing video, otherwise, it seems to work great.
