I don't like SLI!

Some mobo companies are doing just that. Look at the 2x 6600GT card. They are even comming up with a 7800GTX card with double the memory and double the cores.

They do. ASUS is looking at 2 7800GT on 1 baord. Of course this won't fit into your average case. I know there's some dual 6800GT's and Ultra's by a couple of manufacturers. There really more of a novelty item.

They did......Wasn't it Asus or MSI that did a custom board? Anyway, 3dfx did like 11ty-billion gpus on the board back in the voodoo5 days, IIRC.

maybe in time they will do dual core GPUs, but for now, no one is forcing you to buy SLI so I think your life may still go on.

the problem with this kindda cards, theyre normally tied with same manufacturer's system boards. of course u need SLI-ready board and i honestly i dont see much advantage over 2 cards. just like spirit said they are more of novelty items.

But you're essentially forced to buy SLI motherboards. Almost every premium S939 board is 2x16 PCI-E for SLI.

Plenty of nf4 and nf4 ultra boards out there. I see no reason currently for sli, but nobody's got a gun to my head so...meh.

The cards with 512Mb memory don't really offer any performance gain, as there are practically no games that are out right now that take advantage of it.
