What is the warranty on the old laptop? Repairs out of warranty on laptops can easily be more than the $250 difference.

Also, check the Sunday paper ads and deal sites like GottaDeal and FatWallet, I've seen deals at least once a month for new laptops at $400-$500.

Doesn't Dell have a cheaper laptop into the $400 range now? That might be good because it's new and will have a warranty.
