It's not so much that Trump can win as it is about how Joe can lose. As the campaigns build steam heading toward November, people are not going to be able to escape Joe's racist past. His opposition to busing and integration, his comments, his crime bill, etc.
This OP ed gives good examples.

You're flailing around in futility. Voters already know that Joe is no racist. The same obviously can't be said for Trump. He's running to be President of the Confederacy.

One telling factor whether or not Donald Trump can win would be to ask ourselves, just how hopeless is American society that we could give someone like Donald Trump another chance?
How evil are we? How detached are we? How uncaring are we? Just how bad is it and just how bad are we that Donald Trump could be allowed a second oportunity? Well, America must be pretty bad off to say the least. While it appears that Donald Trump could never win, again, we could have enough people that would come out and vote for Trump just as they did in 2016.

I love watching those old news reels and documentaries from 2016 where EVERYONE except Ann Coulter was convinced that Donald Trump could never win. Only Ann Coulter predicted a Trump win back then, and she was laughed at, but she was right. Watch those news reels from 2016 as Donald Trump won primary after primary while everyone said that Donald Trump would never be elected president. I fear that is where we are heading again in 2020, and that should tell us how really awful America has become. It's people ill moral, evil, uncaring, full of hate and given in to ignorance. How bad is America? I think America is pretty much a train-wreck of mass proportions.

We have a brand new evil spreading right now throughout America. That is where the youth are so self centered self consumed that they would endanger their own parents and grandparents for their own self gratification. Refusing to wear a mask and caring not about the spread of the virus. They are on the beach, they are in the bars, they are at the parties spreading the virus among one another, then spreading the virus onto the older more susceptible of society.... and they don't even care. They simply do not give a damn should their self glorification lead to another Covid 19 victim gasping for breath in the ICU. Even if that victim were their mother or father, grandmother or grandfather, neighbor or relative, friend or foe. So now I ask you.... how bad is America? How sad is America? How bad and evil have we become? And maybe this is why America can and probably will re-elect someone like Donald Trump to a second term. Evil is in the air and it will only get worse.

Based on the way some here were during the Kavanaugh hearings, your argument is bunk. Either the past matters or it doesn't.

The past matters, but it also matters if someone has improved in the years since. Biden clearly has; Trump is still the same greedy, narcissistic, racist scumbag he’s been for decades, and has no intention of changing.

To be fair, Biden's graph is showing total accumulated deaths, not deaths per day/per week. Total accumulated deaths will always continue upward until literally no one is dying anymore.

Trump is addicted to clumsy self congratulation that is easily turned against him. Yes mortality is down but approval of his handling of the virus has sunk anyway as a lot of people continue to be infected and die. Biden is planting in fertile political ground.

Yeah but new cases started spiking a month ago, roughly a coulle weeks after memorial day (and accelerating). Were just at the beginning of the death spike and were going to be riding that dragon for at least two more months (likely more since the most affected areas such as Florida and Arizona are doing half-ass containment measures). Trump aint going to have a downward trend even in November at this rate.

I never underestimate americans in this regard. When it comes to barbarism and cruelty that no other civilized nation can manage, you can always count on america!

True, but the daily death rate is starting to rise to real numbers again-most days last week were at or near 1,000 per day-despite major advances in medication and treatment that have arisen from the first couple of months experience. And it is not just the nursing home residents dying off. The ERs and ICU are filled with young people today, those who it supposedly would hardly affect. We are still facing severe problems.

Yes, deaths have gone up sharply in some states, and gone up a little nationally. But the declining death rate has so far prevented this from returning to April levels.

Yup, that's why the dhs is inciting violence, it's his only hope.

We're still reaping the case reduction benefits of the lockdown. Now it goes back to doubling every two to three weeks all across the South. The math is really simple but they just don't get it. Can't even imagine it. Maybe they'll catch on a month or so from now when it's kicking the shit out of their hospital system.

Yes, it's not going to improve Trump's standing in the polls, but will widespread contagion cause more dem voters to stay home than rep voters?

All the battleground states have no excuse absentee voting-

Find out how. Get yours. Fill it out & send it back immediately upon receipt. There's undoubtedly a way to check online to see that it's received & accepted. Denver has ballot trace where I'm automatically notified.

Just vote. Get your piece of Trump's ass.

I live in CA where we all automatically get mail-in ballots this year. I'm a little more concerned about some of the battleground states where people have to request them. Because some people won't know about it, or will know about it but won't bother to do it, then not show up on election day "because of COVID." We have different demographic groups under the dem umbrella (esp. young people) who are low propensity voters who always seem to have an excuse for not voting.

I Figure Trump's stance on the protests will bring 'em to the polls. Democrats are pushing absentee voting everywhere. It's bipartisan in PA. Michigan sent out the request forms to all registered voters.

This is shaping up to be a well deserved ass whupping for Trump & the GOP. There's a contained fury driving Democratic voters. We'll be there.

Agreed; I always remind folks to look at 2018, not 2016.

Watch for a Blue Tsunami this time around.

CT did an interesting thing regarding absentee ballots. By Executive Order the governor added a new reason for getting an absentee ballot-COVID 19-and the instructions specially say everyone can select that. In the primaries the Sec of State mailed out an absentee ballot request to every registered party member (CT has closed primaries) with a post-paid envelope to the Town election official who sends you the absentee ballot. Nice, elegant low cost solution to the problem-the only hang up will be the delay in counting the expected large number of absentee ballots.

Nice to have a government that encourages people to vote instead of one seeking to block the people's voices.

Mass did something similar, except we didn’t even have to check a reason. Just sign the postpaid form and send it back. Primary ballot for the senate seat and November ballot will both show up.
