At least with people I don't know very well but who, theoretically, should be knowledgeable about the situation. I've just been given wrong information too often or been told things I know are possible aren't. Case in point I got a phone call about how my flight had been changed so my layover was no longer within the minimum allowed window. I was given 3 options but none of them were good. I asked if I could route from Canada instead of the US but was flat out told "No. It's not possible to change the country of flight origin." I was pretty sure that wasn't right so I called another number and spoke to someone else who had 0 issues making the change for me and it was done in 5 minutes (After 22 minutes on hold).
I've even had issues when I spoon feed people their terms and conditions "If you look at page 36 of your terms and conditions, paragraph 4 covers this situation."
