Yup - those are the priceless words your Govenor Iowans, govenor Vilsack. Isn't it amazing that a man who claims to want to bring tech industries into the state with his "Iowa Values Fund" doesn't know even how to reply to an email?
Not really. You think that politicians are experts in all possible facets of public policy, industry, economics, social policy, medical issues, the environment, et al? That why they have a cabinet and appoint people.

Doesn't take an expert to send an email - took my grandma a few times to get the hang of it but she learned how to do it. I know that everyone can't know everything they represent when it comes to politics but email? You shouldn't have an email address if you don't know how to use it. Send him an email and see if he returns it :p I just find it hilarious that a guy who thinks he knows how to bring tech jobs to Iowa can't use a simple technology tool. Oh well, maybe I expect too much from our civil servants.

I'm fairly certain I would like to attract highy qualified neurosurgeons to my state, and yet I'm just as certain I cannot perform a craniotomy.

Your point?

Is a craniotomy common in every day life? How many people can perform surgery? How many people can use email? Does email take years of education?
The fact is that he has email and doesn't know how to use it and supposedly he is using his ignorance as an excuse for breaking the law. Read the article - this is actually serious even though I only brought up the trivially silly portion.

Would you atleast know how to make a doctor's appointment? No, I'm not suggesting that you see a neurosurgeon :) Much as I disagree with your views, I have a high regard for your incisive posts (they remind me of a 'sometime myself' when I used to post in a music-related forum :) ) Please don't lower your standards like this :) Sending an email is quite different from programming!

My mom does not even have an email address.

My sister tried to send me an email a couple of weeks ago and sent it to her husband. She also tried to get me in on that Quixar scam as well as give my address to a cutco salesman.

My stepfather installs bonzai buddy and gator.

Where did I come from?

For me it isnt the fact that he cant use it. Mostly it is his lack of effort. WE! know thet it doesnt require too much effort to learn to send emails. What bothers me is that Gov. Vilsack is using it as an excuse instead of putting in the effort to learn. If there is some REAL reason why he cant send an email...If he said "i spent a month taking computer classes and still cant do it" then it would be fine.
