I don't have much money left in my bank account $47.34

This is all the money I have left in my bank account. I am a student with a part time low paying job, but I am barely keeping my head above water. I still owe people a ton of money from when I had to borrow last month to be able to afford food.

I don't waste or spend money at all, so I don't think I can cut any corners there. The only thing I actually spend money on is food, and it's mostly ramen and the occasional piece of fruit so I don't get scurvy. If this keeps up in it's current form I will just dig myself further and further into a hole. I have been trying to look for another job that pays better but in the current market I have had no luck.

ATOT is usually harsh in judgment, and I respect that, but I was wondering if I could ask for your help and advice on the very serious matter of feeding myself for the next month. Thank you, and god bless you all.

2 days ago, you were looking to buy a powerbook for $500.
here
There's a difference between you, Olds, and JohnCU - Olds was being clever, but posted a genuine topic, while a "parody" of the thread title alone. JohnCU was so clever that no one even noticed his thread - he posted a thread that's reposted every 3 or 4 weeks here - a valid thread topic).
Your thread, on the other hand, is a thinly veiled parody. And, if there was any doubt that you meant it as a parody, a quick glance at your recent history should remove that doubt. You posted a parody of a thread in the wrong forum (which by itself was harmless & even very slightly amusing), you posted a parody of the non-returned television, and you posted a thread about finding "black friday" to be an offensive term, a parody of ATOT effect needed (everyone fill a 2 liter bottle to save some village in the Neatherlands)... and that's only going back about 2 weeks. Not to mention the two parodies you created which fell under the "flooding the forums" rule.

Olds & JohnCU were walking that thin line that I alluded to in another mod message. You have clearly crossed it. In the interests of preserving harmony in OT, I am not vacationing you this time. This is simply because so many people can't see the difference between this thread & the thread Olds' created (and the JohnCU thread that you all overlooked). You can consider this a warning that you are skating on very thin ice; next time you may not be so lucky.

As I said in the post, I already have a job. It pays for crap but I have been trying to get another one with no luck.

I think we need to see your income + budget to put things in perspective. Where's all your money going?

so...your parttime job...what do you work...5 hours a week? try 20 hours a week. that should give you $400 a month take home pay. For a single person in college, groceries should not be more than $30 a week. And that includes beer.

It's not going to get any better unless you get a higher paying job or maybe cut down on non essentials.
Shut of your internet/no cable TV/no eating out/...
Get a better job.
Get a roommate.
Move to a cheaper place/situation.
Quit school till you can afford it.

I'm so poor that I'm lounging around my house on a Sunday neffing on ATOT using my computer and my internet connection. Help me eat! Buck up. If your survival skills are that poor, college isn't going to help you get anywhere in life.

You can also cut corners by going to hot deal coupons sites like this.

http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdisplay.php?f=10

Also, seach the web for coupons from general mills, pillsbury etc. It can help save you a ton of cash. PM Geekbabe as she is the queen of saving on groceries.

Saving a bunch of money can be done. I just bought 40 boxes of various kinds of total cereal for $42, thats $1.05 a box when they regularly sell for $4.23 by me.

Don't go to slickdeals or fatwallet, the amount of money you save is quickly eclipsed by the amount of money you sepnd on junk you don't need because it's a "good deal"

hit up your church (if you go) if not hit them up anyway. many have food pantry's and will help out college kids who are struggling.

as others said cancel everything you can. TV, phones, internet etc. ou can use those at school.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try to hit up teh parents, but I dunno if they will go for it. I find browsing various money saving sites ends up with me wasting my time, and having spent more money than I would have otherwise. Anyone have any tips for scoring a decent paying job?
