Why is it whenever anyone starts any sort of football thread there has to be several people that jump in that mention how it affects their fantasy team?
NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FANTASY TEAM!
Now I'm a huge football fan, and while I don't play fantasy football I certainly don't mind it either, it's just that all it's players have to somehow chime in about their team and how everything in the "real" football world affects their fantasy teams.
All fantasy sports does is cheapen and make the game much more superficial to watch, such that instead of watching games for something other than the stories behind the game, or the personalities behind it, it's turned into nothing more than a game of numbers. If I wanted to deal with numbers I'd go take a math class.
Examples of the superficialness of it all:
a) say you're rooting for a team, the team heads into the red zone, and end up scoring a touchdown. Now in the old days this would be reason for celebration, yes? Not in this world howeveri, it's only cause for celebration if someone on their fantasy team scored, if it was the 3rd string RB who jumped 15 ft into the air over defenders who stacked themselves 3 man-up, it wouldn't matter because that guy wasn't starting for your damn team.
b) You're rooting for a team, and the opposing team is in your redzone. Now normally you'd want everything done so that they don't score right? Wrong, if someone on the opposing team happens to be on your fantasy team, and if they score a TD, you would be rooting FOR them. If you're a Broncos fan, Chiefs fan, or a Bears fan let's say, and you had the first pick in your draft, you'd probably be crazy not to pick LT...but that means you'd have to root for him when he's playing against your team. How un-kosher is that?
Person A: OMG did you see how player x cameback last week after suffering a life threatening injury and was gone for 3 months when no one thought he would but he ended up scoring 3 TDs!!??
Person B: Yeah he totally helped my fantasy team!
Person A: :roll:isgust;
As its name implies, it's a fantasy, it'd be like if someone constantly kept everyone else updated on how their WoW or Second Life character was doing at the moment, except it'd probably be more interesting. Enough already!
/waits for people to chime in as to how their fantasy team did this week.
