I don't get it. Someone left a 2000 model Ford Focus just laying by the road.

I drive on the highway everyday for my work commute. Since 2 weeks, I have noticed this Ford Focus just laying on the side of the road. It has been there, and hasn't moved at all. I just don't get it, how come no one has stolen it, how come it hasn't been towed away, and why would anyone just leave it there?

Are you sure it is a 2000? With the new parts from all of the recalls, it might be a 2001 or a 2002.

ya know i was told by a tow truck driver (while my car was on the flatbed) that cars left on the thruway are towed and impounded after 2-4 hours on the side of the thruway... but that is in NY and the thruway so it was jsut a normal highway might be a diff law/rule

In AL a car on the side of highway gets a sticker put on it and after a certain number of days based on the sticker it will be towed. They give you at least a couple of days to get rid of the thing though.

Same in NC..Sticker is fluorescent pink and seems to have a super glue type backing, that takes months to come off.

i've seen a couple abandoned cars on the side of the highway whenever i drive home from school.

cars aren't crappy or old either. I guess maybe they break down..and then people just leave them and will come back for them eventually?

If this car had been abondonded in my area, the windows would have been smashed out of it the first night it stayed there.

Yea, I seen this too in FL. I would hate to deal with something like that.

I saw one car, I think it was an old Nova on the side of a road for three months. After a couple of week parts started to go missing. By the end, it was just a dented up, vandalized rear body section. The front clip, engine, frame, axle, interior, trunk lid, everything else had been stolen.

...and yes, I did say frame.

My Crown Vic has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've owned it since 45K miles (now 98k) and the only thing I've had to fix that wasn't maintenance was the starter. Other than that, I've just done brakes, tires, oil / filter, and wipers.

My Tempo, on the other hand, was a POS.
