People complain about how ps3 too expensive at $600 for the top model with everything to play HD videos and such, but on the other hand its $400 + $200(HD-DVD player) for the top 360 model to play HD video also...... but yet they are like OMG THATS AWESOME!!!11!!!1 Is there something I dont know?

The 360 was never billed as a hd dvd player. This is a cool option for those who've already bought (or would have bought) an xbox 360 for the games and now want a cheap hd dvd player. Plus, if you don't want the hddvd player you don't have to pay for it.

Yup, you missed the point entirely. Sony is forcing you to adopt their blu-ray technology while MS allows you to make a choice. Do you want your game system to also be an HD player? Or do you want your game system to be a game system? I refuse to pay a $200 premium to Sony just to help them win a format war.

You can't even buy a PS3 so it doesn't mean a damn wether it's $400 or $50.

You can get the Xbox 360 for $350 now. Also, how do you know what the final pricing is for the add on?

Additionally, I've been playing my xBox 360 for almost a year now in 1080i. I guess I like the fact that Microsoft didn't force me to use Blu-Ray and make me wait delay after delay after delay. Ontop of that, spending $399 and $200 a year later vs $600 at one time is a big difference.

its an option
most don't want or need the hddvd player. for them its 200 dollar saved, theres no way around it. simple fact is hddvd stand alone player is down to 390 on amazon, 30 dollars cheaper than that if you use their visa. its only going to continue to drop. neither console will be worth much as an hd player in the long run.

not sure i get canibalizing player sales with ps3 anyways. does it even come with a remote? i doubt it. i mean who really wants to control their video player with a gamepad. sucks for other companies who would want to put out players anyways being undercut by sony.
