I dont care what you say I still hate Facebook.

Im so sick of hearing that word. Companies presume I want to "connect with them" - become their damn friend or something. F that.

Ill be glad the next thing comes along to kill it - with fire. And may that take that damn Iphone/pad/pod with them. :colbert:

wierd I don't get any unsolicited contact any more. maybe once a month from a random person that i may share a single connection with. Maybe you just suck at facebook dude.

Agree with this. In fact, a few months ago I stopped "staying logged in" when on facebook. I found that my surfing habits were being tracked more and more, since so many sites are integrated now with facebook and I don't like it at all. Facebook does not give a sh*t about privacy and I want to make it as hard on them as possible. I will never use facebook to comment outside of facebook elsewhere. I don't want to visit a company's facebook page, etc.

this is first thread that I have responded that has facebook keyword in it - I sign what OP says. It is sad when every organization out there has "like" facebook button on their site.

never got into the social media stuff, tweets, skypes, facebooks..whatever. i didnt even really know exactly what tweeter was till a few months ago when i asked someone for sake of conversation. No clue what skype is and facebook idea seems ...just plain nerdy and weird to me...reminds me of those 2 kids i used to beat up back in HS for some odd reason.

I did the evil thing of adding such buttons on my site's articles not very long ago.

:sneaky:

Seems to only work for browsers that enable 3rd party cookies though, not sure what I did wrong.

I'm not a huge Facebook fan myself, but I do see it as an opportunity for extra traffic, that's probably why a lot of companies facebook their site. (yes, I just invented a verb)

Well you know what twitter is, then, it's a way for people to post endless, stupid ass updates about boring sh*t in their lives because they are attention whores. Facebook is basically the same thing but has more ways to spam people with stuff in your life.

My fave is Facebook stalking. You find somebody who you used to know or even just met and bring them up on facebook. If they are a newb and their privacy settings are very low you can see lots of pics and learn about their life.

So, yeah, plain nerdy and weird you're right.

ah, twitter, not tweeter. anyway, it was explained to me as like a public instant message and that there are actually people out there who give a shit. so yeah, same thing.
i suppose the face stalking thing is similar to those who really get into certain reality tv shows. lives other than their own.

......so who wants to watch me, watch tv and drink a beer in my boxers??...anyone?? Should be interesting, in todays episode, the cat is very hungry, the dog is sniffing the couch and i can almost make out whats going on in the scrambled station channel 99

Yep.

People tweet (verb) on twitter. I suppose that makes them a tweeter. Although I have a facebook account I consider myself far evolved above people with twitter accounts and think all should DIAF. That's because facebook does offer more than just self-promotion/attention whoring.

I really don't see the appeal of facebook.

i like it, but dont love it. i "like" companies and such that i want to keep up with, so i know when microbreweries are holding special beer events, and i use it as a "personal forum" in a way to coordinate things with a small circle of close friends i have.

someone posts something on facebook...and we often end up making plans. its handy. despite many of my friends being nerds, getting them to use a shared google calendar or some such never worked. facebook? people are just accustomed to gravitating to it now, so it makes a good central planning/news like thing for me

that is, after i changed my name and networks so people i barley knew or were acquainted with would leave me the fuck alone. if i havent talked to you in 9 years, theres a reason for that.

There you go folks, FB, Twitter, My_Space, etc. has now enslaved you to their site. Sure I would like to find long lost friends and keep in touch. Not posting my day to day activities so others unbeknownst to me could monitor what I say, good or bad. I'll avoid sites like this and keep my FB to a minimum whenever possible. There are better things to spend the time I have, same thing here in ATOT. :hmm:
