I didn't realize how hungry it would make me. I had to leave for lunch @ 10:45 PST and I'm still hungry. Is this normal?

Yeah most people feel week after donating blood, it'll drop your blood sugar somewhat too so you'll feel hungry if you're sensitive to that. to blood donation!

BS. They want as much of whatever type of blood they can get. Better to give an AB person a unit of AB then have to give them A, B, or O that is needed by someone with a more specific blood type.

wish i could give blood.

Bonfils has defered my wife and I for life because we lived in Germany for 4 years. In fact any service people who were stationed in europe can not give blood. the reason is, because all the bases got their meat from England so because of Mad Cow we cant give blood.

I once had a co-worker who had a plaque from the Red Cross updating how much blood he'd donated. He had donated over 50 gallons by the time I left. Crazy.

Only time I've felt funky after donating blood was when I left straight for work where I was working as a dishwasher that night. Granted that's the definition of one of the things they tell you NOT to do...

O- here. They love my blood. They don't stop calling.

It's not painful at all. With a shot you feel the prick and then you get that painful pressure as they inject the fluid. When they take blood you feel the prick and then nothing because the blood flows out.

i had a roommate in undergrad who would sell his platelets or plasma or something. it took like two hours and he was messed up for a couple of days after he did it.

they gave him $50 and he did it as often as they'd allow it.

my other roommate and i made fun of him and beat him and stuff.

They would like to see you as often as you can donate. I'm AB+ myself and they are always glad to see me. It's not going to go to waste.

It doesn't hurt too much, but that needle's frickin huge. It looks more like a drill bit or gun barrel.....

Have a beer after donating, you'll only need one :)

PS I am not liable if you do drink a beer.

I donated blood but what I did not like was the Red Cross kept bugging me to donate my blood platelets or something. It sounded good but you had to be strapped down for an hour or two. I hate needles so I was already nervous and I did not need to be continually hassled about giving even more.

I used to donate my blood in annual basis back in college. I liked the yummies I got after.
