So I have the Zalman 9500 cooler on my CPU that lets you rotate the cooler a few degrees to the left and right.

I accidentally rotated it to the left and had to move it back...

Now idle temps are ~5 C higher and load is ~4C higher. I'm thinking that the AS5 just needs to reset. Should I reseat the cooler? It's such a pain you know....

give it a day or so and see what it does...

my i wiggled mine back and forth for the first few days with AS5 and a 9700NT

You're right that reapplying the AS5 would fix it.

Though as others have said, if you give it a bit of time and help (push? twist?) to settle in to its new position, it may go back to normal.

I'd heat it up for a few minutes of usage at load, turn the PC off, and try pressing/twisting it gently to level the paste and see what happens.
