To cut the story short, he posted a trade regarding trading Dreamcast stuffs for a good CD-Rom. I replied. All was done through PMs, as seen below:

He: do you have any other info about the drive. i'm not familiar with prime peripherals...maybe a website or something?

Me: this is it: http://www.afreey.com/product.html

the drive is made by them but the distributer is Prime Peripherials.

Dan

He: what are you interested in for trade for the cd rom?

Me: LOL, you're a joker. u could have checked your history on our previous PMs.

On your thread, you said you had some DC stuffs, so i PMed you i wanted the 2 VMUs FT.

lmk,
Dan

He: joker? shi* i want $50 for two vmus because you like calling people names

Me: Huh? you angry cos of the joke or you mad cos of??

i'm confused with your sentence....

He: oh man i'm sorry i was drunk when i wrote that last night. i only have one vmu left now plus a 3x mem crad and some games. perhaps both the vmu and the mem plus a couple games for the drive?

Me: You're making me laugh again, and i thought you were THAT serious. LOL hahahaha!!!

Sure. Pls confirm asap so i can get myself an old cheapo dirve.

Urmm.. your heatware name is diff from your anandtech name, and i'm cautious and weary in this things. Hope you understand that i'll have to take this basic precautions. Do you mind shipping first, my heatware is under freemanteo

thnks,
Dan

He: i don't mind shipping first, and you can definitely trust me anyway. what exactly do you want in exchange for the drive? I'd like to get this deal banged out tonight so that i can get the driv eout to you tomorrow
thanks

Me: thnks for understanding. I too want to close this deal asap. YOur last PM, you said i could take the VMU, 4x memory card and some games, so pls confirm with me what i'm getting from you.

Thnks,
Dan

He: how does the vmu, 4x memcard and power stone sound?

Me: ok, as long as you're happy.

could i have resident evil cos i have power stone 2 already.

lmk, thnks.
Dan

He: i already got rid of resident evil. maybe i could throw in a few bucks to even it out?

Me: no, i'm not asking for money, just wanted other games that i donot have, how abt the Sega Bass Fishing? is it still available? if not then i'll take the Power Stone.

Will you be sending it out tomm? let me know when you send it out so i'll know when ot expect it, thnks.

oh yeah, is our deal a confirmed deal, if 101% yes, here is my address:

Me: hi max, pls confirm with me if our deal is still on, dun leave me hanging man.

thnks,
Dan

He: okay it's off. i don't think i was getting a fair trade so i'm going to try and find something else to do with the stuff. sorry if i kept you hanging.

Me: no problem, but in your future tradings, pls donot practice this kind of trading habits, in a half-hearted way and slow communications.

THnks for your time,
Dan

He: i will trade as i please. in the future please do not try to rip off people. thank you for your time.

Me: Do as you please, practicing bad trading ethics is bad enough, accusing others is worst, you want money, say so! Good to know this has come to a good ending, now i know who to steer away from.

thnks for showing your true self,
Dan

As you can see, he have all the info on my drive, its only 1-2 weeks old, and confirms and makes me offers. But his communication is slow, after waiting half a day. he finally tells me its off, that does'nt matter but his last reply pisses me off, after giving him some advice, he accuses me of ripping people off! Its how he handled the deal, really shabby, slow in communication and really a spoilt child.

You can never know enough bad traders, everyweek you'll meet at least one... well, their lost, my gain. :D

THis is a personal principal/feeling, if you donot feel the same, dun blame me. :)

you said it, now he thinks he is the king of the world. Stating i kept the actual cost of the item from him, i was like huh? YOu did'nt ask, and if you guys traded before, we dun usually post a BIG SIGN saying i paid by Cash/CC or Cheque and stating where we bought from and how much after tax!!

Do you?? I don't.

I think if you are buying or trading, it is your reponsability to know how much does the product cost and if it is worth it trading or buying it for that matter. Also, if you want to trade something, don't ask for money unless you are asked if you want to sell it. Never the less, I had a few people that were trying to trade with me and I didn't know that it was the beer talking and not the person. But do like I do, I stay as far away from people like that as I can. One more thing, if you have Heatware, why do you use a different loging name in every place. You can actually be redondant in this issue, and save yourself headeachs when dealing with others and they want to check your references.

Just my 2 cents.

Obviusly a newbie and if he don't change his tude, he will have a short lived career as a trader. It appears as if you did everything right, don't worry about it too much, chalk it up to experience and go on. :)

Well, in my part of the US we have a saying (usually more often applied to women than anything else, but...): "You get more flies with honey than with vinegar."

...i.e., to unwrap the metaphor for those who can't do metaphor (excuse me--um--for those who are "metaphor non-gifted"): "You act like a d1ck you're not likely to make alot of trades."

:)

If someone is gonna be a @ss with communication in PMs and/or email, why would you expect anything but "@ss" you open up what they've sent you?

Membership rankings do not automatically concede trader know how, I have seen a few goldens that were pretty clueless, as well as members I know have been trading for years pulling some really bone headed stunts. We all make mistakes it is how we face the mistakes and what we take away from them that separates the haves and the have nots.

ah, thats really lame.

I bought some hardware, including a duron advertised as coming with a retail HSF. Guess what? Came today, just a bare chip. :| Hopefully we can work soemthing out, but seeing im in a boonie ass town, the downtime of my new computer is delayed yet again.

<sigh>

And to start another rant, got a HD today from a trader-same one, in the same box-and it wasnt even really cushioned. Just sandwiched between a small handful of peanuts and a air cushion. No foam, nothing. Am I wrong to expect a friggin hard drive to be protected better than just sandwiching it between a bottom layer consisting of a small handful of peanuts and the top layer just a air cushion?

<sigh>

i'm stressing it again, his attitude sucks, ontop of his lousy trading practices.
