I disagree with reasons why my thread was locked

Topic should be allowed to be discussed here

There are 2 forums where there are constant warring camps - P&N and Video Cards. I think it is appropriate to have a thread in P&N discussing the recent change in policy - i.e. identifying mods.

I have complained in the past about it, but the old rules made publically speculating about Mod identities a reason for thread locking and then banning if continued. Sending a PM when you don't know who will actually read it, perhaps the people you suspect of being mods and biased. Hence you had to live with it.

Please note that my post was positive overall in that I think it will help the forum and specifically Politics and News. I don't think my "complaint" about the Mods in the past was particularly scathing.

This is actually the second time in all my years of posting that I have had a thread locked and the only other one I knew would happen as I was publically complaining about the "gay" rule when it first happened.

I disagree that the post was not about Politics and News. Potential bias from Mods is Politics and it is News that the policy of keeping Mod identities secret has changed.

Your thread wasn't locked because it was critical of past moderation, it was locked because it was in the wrong forum and there was already a thread here in Personal Issues started by Derek discussing the Moderators and their indentities.

The information that you posted was not relevant to what is considered P&N.

It was directly related to the Forums and the way items are being implemented.

We do not need a thread in each Forum regarding the Moderation.

You thread would have belonged in OT or FI.

Ulfwald started one in OT to alert the membership.

Biases from Moderators is a given; however, there is an serious attempt to separate bias from Moderation functions.

There are Moderators on both sides of the fence for P&N and if something seems inconsistent w/ respect to moderating within a thread, concerns are aired internally to sort out the situation.

There is also, the ability for the membership to PM the Anandtech Moderator and request a review.
This does not mean a review will be granted or an action will be overturned; but will ensure that the Moderators will have the opportunity to be aware of a concern.

I have to agree with Red and Common Courtesy,

Your topic is not related to Politics or News. If you had started it in forum issues, or Off Topic, then it may not have been locked. BUt considering that there are 2 threads in Off Topic, you should have posted in there. It was not a "personal attack" against you, just a case of a thread in the wrong forum, and not being moved due to 2 threads already being open.

Copy and paste it into one of the other 2 threads in OT.

red, cc, and ulfwald are correct.

Part of our guidelines require posting in the right forum. In this case, the right forum is personal forum issues, the suggestion box or OT, but not P&N.

having such a lose definition on politics and/or news would be dangerous to the forum as well -- should i talk about the politics of my household? what about reporting the news of my daughters first steps?

I'm locking this thread, as I don't think any more discussion on the subject is necessary. If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to PM me.
