I disagree with Gore, we SHOULD have guns in schools

... once upon a time in America there WAS some question as to whether or not teach was packing heat ... now everyone knows that the teacher (who is typically a namby-pamby liberally educated NEA drone) would not come within 10 miles of a firearm. So yeah (sarcastic grin) we do need MORE guns in school, just not in the hands of students ...

Seriously: Gun violence in schools has actually dropped in recent years, despite several horrific instances of mass murder. We're not where we need to be yet, but it is not nearly as bad as the popular press makes out.

I remember math class in 5th grade. We had what you might call a militant math teacher even though he had a sharp sense of humor. If someone got out of line, he'd literally pick him up and slam them into a wall. Think I learned more about math in that class than in all previous classes combined! Nobody screwed off. Great learning atmosphere. A healthy respect for teachers is the way to go, not an outright fear of them. Today teacher's are certainly not feared and not nearly as respected as in my day.

What Gore didnt know is that it is illegal everywhere to bring a gun on school grounds, I think that it also does extend to a "safe" beyond school grounds. Bush thought it was true, but he wasnt positive and he sure wasnt going to say it unless he was sure it was true after gigging gore on facts.

Bush is correct that the real problem lies in people wanting to kill each other. Columbine would have been stopped if the boys had decided they really didnt want to kill their class mates. I wont go into ways this could have been without guns, I think most of us can easily figure out what I mean.

What is really screwed up is that in the "best economy in history" as the politicos like to say, that so many americans want kill other people and themselves. Solve that problem and the "gun" issue doesnt exist beyond "accidents".

One time in class I was getting out of line and my teacher pulled out a .45, pointed it right towards my head and said "Go ahead. One less homework to grade."

Ok, that didn't happen, but it sure as hell would have kept me in my seat from then on.
