My Zen Xtra was sitting on top of my case while i was transfering something to it, and i got up and tripped on the cable and pulled it onto the carpet. it didn't hit real hard, but it was writing. Well, now it has to "rebuild library" every time i turn it on, then it freezes when it gets to the menu. i have to take the battery out to turn it off. It will not connect to my computer. Is there any way i can reformat without it being connected to the computer?

I know you can go into the setup menu in them by pushing the reset button and I think the other button is play. It may offer you some option that will allow you to fix it.

Hold the Player up to your ear, and listen very closely when it turns on. If you can hear a faint "clicking," then your hard drive heads are stuck. I can guide you through a way to fix this, or replace the HDD if this happens to be the case. I have the XTRA, and my HDD went bad too, so I have torn them apart quite a few times, and know my way around the inside of these players. Let me know if you hear the "Click of Death" and I can help you.
