Well, I went to the Microsoft's "Heroes Happen Here" launch event today in Baltimore and Microsoft gave away some cool stuff as always. I got a nice lunch cooler that was filled with a banana, apple, muffin, cookie, juice, water, energy bar. I also got a package containing Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Vista Ultimate with SP1. I always love getting free stuff like that.

Well, anyways, here is the shameful part. I noticed that some people didn't want their cookies and muffins (both were wrapped) and left them on tables. Some threw them away unopened into trash cans.

Well, I hated seeing such perfectly good food go to waste so I went back later to the table and lo and behold a cookie and two muffins were still on the table. I noticed that one guy swung by the table and took a muffin. I waited until everyone left the area and then I swung by the table and took the muffin and cookie that was left. I feel somewhat ashamed of myself...

Bah, you grabbed a wrapped muffin and a cookie from the table. Not notable in any way. They gave you hundreds (thousands?) of dollars of worth of software, and you're guilting over two dollar's worth of baked goods?

I probably would have taken wrapped cookies and muffins from the trash, let alone the table.

While there are hungry people who can't even get clean drinking water, you have these picky pricks who throw away perfectly fine yummy food. Throwing away food causes bad Karma.

I thought you were going to at least take some outta the trash...
or steal someone's who looked like they wanted them.
Some people removed the food items and left them on the table and you picked up after them and feel shame? You are a proud man.

Dammit, why don't they have one of these Microsoft launch events in Connecticut? We have lots of IT people too, ya know!

I was suppose to go to this in Sacramento in June, but cancelled last week due to conflicts.

You are missing for forest for the trees. #2 isn't the shameful part, #1 is.
