In my haste to build up my dual 2.8 Xeon rig, I managed to miss one itty-bitty detail. :Q The IBM xSeries server I purchased has one fewer pin holes per processor socket than the 2.8 Xeons I bought. Yep, I wasn't paying attention, and managed to pick up a server with a "603" board and(in a seperate deal) a pair of "604" processors.

On the plus side, there's two things: a) I've learned an important lesson(albeit expensive), and b) now of course the ONLY solution for a self-confessed DC nut like myself is get the correct components for each of the ones I have and build twice as many servers as orignally planned! :p

NWM, you see the utlimate silver lining in virtually any cloud!

Now why dont you mistakenly buy a batch of Athlon64s and P4 motherboards... and resolve the situation in the same way!! :p

Nice work though!!

Is the difference between 603 and 604 pins perhaps the DP versus MP versions?

I guess that other than the money ... you look heartbroken about having to have twice as many servers ...
