I did something I didn't expect...

I was walking into CompUSA, thinking about picking up a new Radeon 9700 Pro (we get discounts as business members 🙂) and my friend Tim was going with me...I looked at the price of the Radeon and had some serious doubts...so instead, I look at a gamecube and metroid prime and purchase that instead 🙂 I must be crazy, but I saved about 200 dollars and I can get a new TV now...also, I think I am going to be having a lot more fun with the Gamecube than with the Radeon 9700 🙂 What do you guys think?

Edit: I also now own a Radeon 9700 Pro...I think I should have gotten one earlier...wow...they rock...😀

You remind me of RossMAN. I paid $150, but I saved $200! I am ahead!

😛

dude you paid 150 for a gamecube when you could have got a xbox or at least a ps2 for $50 more. im sory. gamecube is an alright system for renting playing a few times then sending back thats it.

Me, I would have gotten the 9700. Buts thats me. Im a die hard Computer fan. I had a Sega, but enjoyed my comp more. Im not to big on the Consle gaming.

You were going to screw yourself by getting a 9700. Instead you screwed yourself even worse by getting a GC. :Q

but to ROTC1983:

METROID PRIME IS OUT?!??!

Yeah, its out...its pretty cool...I played it over at my friends house...Gamecube isn't that bad. Have you actually played one before or are you basing these facts on something you read?

I would have at least gone for an Xbox. GC isn't going to be around much longer.

GC will be around longer than Xbox, Nintendo is actually pulling a profit from that unlike Microsoft.

Thinking you come out ahead when you spent money on an item that you didn't need in the first place -- it's a woman's logic 😉 😀. I hereby suggest that RossMAN should change his s/n to RossWOMAN.

That has no grounds in an argument. The only two lines that make profit for Microsoft are its OSes and Office. Everything else is made/marketed/sold at a loss. I don't see M$ cutting it's computer hardware/games/business software/etc. any time soon, do you?

I NEEDED something though...it just cost less than a Radeon 9700 🙂

I was just playing Devil's advocate, I am not a a huge GC person, but I just thought that his statement had no grounds?
What signs are showing that the GC will be done with soon?
I see Nintendo coming out with their bread and butter games and I can only see things going uphill for them.

I don't think Nintendo is going anywhere, and if it does, it will be because some comglomerate giant (like M$) bought them out. Nintendo has a great customer base. Just because Sega pulled out of their game market doesn't mean that Nintendo is fvcked. Sega's been going down for a while...

Well I agree, I don't think Nintendo is going anywhere, up or down.
I think that they have found their place in the market, and I don't see them leaving.
Sony has established itself too, Microsoft has to get the customers that Sony and Nintendo have,
and that might take another generation of consoles, but who knows?

I'm going to BB tomorrow to pick up Metroid Fusion. I'm getting worried that I might also end up buying a GameCube and Metroid Prime. I really love Metroid but I can't afford $200. (actually I can't afford Metroid Fusion either but that's why they invented credit cards 😉 )

If I were to buy a game console, I'd get a gamecube jsut for Metroid and Zelda. Nintendo has the most fun games.

Yep, and Mario Kart (which will come out) Smash Brothers, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party 4, Pikmin, Star Fox Adventures, Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, and the list goes on...
