I did something childish today...

I engaged in a contest of speed.

My wife and I were driving back from Harvest Ranch market in Encinitas in my C63 with the top down on a 50mph six lane road coming up through Leucadia into Carlsbad and we found ourselves behind a new Toyota Supra and I have to say, that car looks really good from the rear. He was in front of us at the light and my wife asked me what kind of car it was so I told her but I couldn’t really remember the specs on it. Anyway, the light changed and he took off in a real hurry so naturally I decided to see if he could pull away from me... he couldn’t. We found ourselves at the next light with a car in between us so when it changed I floored it. Surprisingly he was pulling on me a little bit but I kept my foot in it and wound him back in and passed him. I have no idea how fast we were going but we easily dropped the few cars that were behind us. I quickly backed out of it and as we came up to the next light I gave him a thumbsup and he and his GF were both grinning ear to ear and gave me a thumbs up. We drove the rest of the way home at legal speeds.

Yes, it was childish but it was fun and the area we were in has no houses, no sidewalks, no side streets and there was no traffic in either direction so the danger level was pretty low.

I looked up the specs on that car and was kind of surprised how quick they are. He really should have beat me as my car has about 900lbs on his but I have a good 130hp more and quite a lot more torque. Temps were in the high 80s and we are at sea level and despite having the top down I was blasting the AC. He definitely was too as he had the windows up. In hindsight I should have turned the AC off first.

In many cars when you floor it the AC compressor disengages. Not sure if that's true of cars with excessive HP ;)

Oh, and thread fail since I came in expecting donuts.

Nice that you got to match up with a Supra instead of an 70 year old man peeling out on his 15 year old tires in his corvette.

Either the Supra isn't stock or your C63 has issues. I was not aware that Toyota did anything fundamentally different with the BMW Z4 drivetrain.

Since buying my C5 I've noticed people more willing to instigate rolling or stop light races with me. Very rare that happens when I'm driving the C7 Z06.

I took on a tired looking older Mazda 3 last night from a stoplight. It had a coffee can exhaust tip, so I assume it was supah fast. The kid driving it probably though he would walk away from me, but I showed his ass. Never mess with an old guy driving an old lady-mobile especially when he's in a hurry to get home and empty his bladder.

What's a C63?

AMG version of a C-class Mercedes... and I’m not a hairdresser or an Asian guy. ;)

it has a hand built bi-turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine that cranks out 469hp and 479lb-ft of torque. It’s a pretty fast car but it is also fairly heavy.
