I finally built my PC. I would like to thank the people here who help me do this. Without the help in these forums i dont think i would have managed. I think my pc would probably be fried! In the end i changed my case, the new one has a fan at the front and back and damm do they make noise!

Anyway, one or two more questions!

1) When i boot up the PC and go to the BIOS, the CPU temp goes up to about 43 degrees C. However if i boot into Windows ME or 2000 and run Abit's Program it says 30C for the temp CPU. If i then restart and go into the bios its at 30C?

Whats up with that? Is the temps i mentioned ok? by the way my system temp on both is 23C.

2) i have Windows ME on C and Windows 2000 on D partition. Both see each others drives as windows 2000 partition is FAT32. is keeping it FAT 32 ok, or should i go NTFS?
When I install a program in 2000 it likes to use the C:\program files directory (windows ME). How do i stop it and make it use d:\Program files?

Thanks So much!

If you have a dual boot. Stay with FAT32, cuz WinMe can't see NTFS Partitions. I guess there were some tools, just search for'em.

Normall winblows power management kicks in and lowers temp gradually. BIOS and windows should be same temp at this point. At boot up there is no power savig in force unless if you use BIOS power saving features which usually sucks.

Whatever program you are using in Windows to monitor temperatures (e.g. Motherboard Monitor) is likely reading the case temperature, not the CPU temperature. On my MSI K7T Pro 2-A, the CPU temp is displayed by the second temperature guage, not the first.

No because it has 2 readings. One for Case Temp and one for CPU temp.

In Windows 2000 my CPU temp seems to stay at 30-33C, and in ME its at 35-45. I played Quake 3 for 20 minutes and the temp of the CPU was 45C in Windows ME. Is that ok or do i need more cooling?

cheers
