I did a thing! Bought a 2023 BMW Z4 M40i.

My wife and I bought a BMW Z4 M40i. This is a 2023 model with basically every option and it only had 730 miles on it. We bought it from a BMW dealer for $59k and it is CPO so we get an extra year of warranty with unlimited mileage so three more years of factory BMW warranty. My wife missed the C63 Cabriolet I used to own and I missed the power so this scratches both of those itches. Yeah, it is an automatic but the ZF 8 speed auto in these cars is really good and it is actually faster than the manual cars.

Gives me something to obsess over while I’m recovering from chemotherapy.

I spent the first few nights of ownership detailing the wheels and paint and waxing it. The paint got a clay, polish and wax. It needed it. Car was sitting outside and dealerships do a generally poor job of prepping used cars for sale. Just a wash and vacuum typically.

Congrats! What a great looking car. Be sure and find some twisty roads to put it through its paces.🙂

I’m up to 977 miles now. Almost past the break-in mileage.

I drove it up to my friend’s house in Newport Coast. Drove all the way up with the top down because it was early in the morning and overcast. It was sunny in the afternoon coming back so I had the top up most of the way as I need to limit my sun exposure. I had sunscreen on both times.

Congrats on the ride.

I don't know what it is with BMW but they have shown me some horrendously filthy CPO cars lol. The last one had so much dog hair in it that I had to Kleenex the instrument cluster to read anything. So weird they have such high standards for everything else but won't even run a vacuum through it before putting it on the lot.

All dealerships are like that. I have purchased vehicles from Mercedes, Lexus, Land Rover and BMW and none of them will spend more than the bare minimum to get a vehicle ready for sale. If they have to spend a dime on reconditioning a vehicle it comes out of their bottom line. Wash and vacuum is it for reconditioning. No polishing, no detailing, all that costs money that eats into their profit.

Wax? Polish? Hahaha! Don’t make me laugh. My car had no wax on it. The paint was full of contaminants and needed a complete clay and light polish before waxing.
