I deserve some abuse...

I'm quite angry at myself. I've gone a good few months with out a cigarette and yesterday I went to a bar and I was with old friends that smoke quite alot and I had a few cigarettes. I know I won't have anymore but it just annoys me that I smoked. :frown: Hopefully this will never happen again.

Everybody has setbacks from time to time. Don't be angry with yourself but make sure you don't let yourself get into that predicament again. If you do it again be angry because then you are going to drift back into old habits!

Ugh, that sucks. I was in a similar position last Friday when a group of us went to an ale house and, a few beers in, I saw someone smoking and desperately wanted a drag. I didn't have one (thankfully -- I quit in November '02 and don't want to throw the last 1.5 years down the drain.

I can say that it does get a little better down the line -- I don't have dreams about smoking quite as much now. 😉

Good lord those things irritate the hell outta me.....saw one yesterday that pretty much blames cigarettes for house fires. I'm sure they start some, but is it really the cigarettes fault or the fault of the dumbass that fell asleep while smoking.

I'm not a smoker, never have been, but I'm getting sick and tired of all the anti-smoking propaganda that is seemingly everywhere.

Yep. When I was smoking, nothing made my craving for a cig worse than seeing that stuff. The whole ad campaign is aimed more at making non-smokers hate smokers than actually making people quit. Showing rotted out teeth and ruined lungs on the sides of buses is just awful.

Just remember: you're good enough, you're smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people like you!
[edit]
The thing that really bothers me about the "truth" ads is their half-truth approach to propaganda. Before too long they'll be worse than Hitler's anti-semitic propaganda.

Why are you annoyed? If you enjoyed it and didn't get addicted what the hell is the problem? Drinking and smoking goes together for a LOT of people, as long as you are only doing it recreationaly I personally don't think there is a bloody problem with it. A couple cigs when you are out drinking with friends isn't going to hurt you.

Before long? I think they are already there...

because he's trying to quit and risking getting re-addicted?

A few smokes is no big deal. You could do worse like live in a crappy city like Toronto all your life and you'd do more damage. There are a billion bad things for you and you'll die anyhow so have fun 😉

Well, if you don't start smoking regularly then what's the big deal? I smoke a few ciggys a year but never go back to smoking regularly. If you can do that then I'd say you don't have anything to worry about.
