Then, when they finally die, I want them put through a meat grinder and turned into hamburgers, which can be sent across the country and fed to other murderers. And I want to watch the whole process on TV, with a beer in one hand, some popcorn in the other, and my five year old daughter sitting right besides me watching me cheer as a man gets his skin ripped off! God bless America!!

To those of you that feel that way, I'd like to say: What the hell is wrong with you people? There is NOTHING to gain by publicly torturing and dismembering someone, regardless of what he's done. If you want him permenantly removed from the population so he never has a chance to kill anyone again, lethal injection will do the same thing. How can you say that murder is wrong and at the same time advocate turture, puplic executions, and gang-rape?

Hmmm I have an answer, but not an understanding. People react this way when they feel afraid and powerless. When the perp is caught, this is the first natural reaction. Eventually people cool down and want justice. Of course there are asshats that cant wait to disembowel anything that offends them, but that is a given.

I've a feeling that this is referring to what I said in that other thread. Please take it with a grain of salt, I wasn't really being serious.

Although, my point remains in a way...ooh, we give him a little shot, and he doesn't feel anything, he just calmly and quietly, peacefully enters the eternal sleep. Does that seem like justice for someone who shot the young boy walking to his middle school? Does that seem justice for someone who shot the old man who was just trying to gas up his car? These people had families, loved ones, friends. And this guy decided to slaughter them for fun.

Maybe I look at in a certain light, given that two of my best friends and many of my relatives live in the DC area. While not paranoid, yes, I feared for their lives and their safety. These are my loved ones, who felt just a little scared to go to school or work in the morning everyday.

This man has executed people while pumping gas, mowing thier lawn and what not. Why should he all of a sudden be treated humane. No need to shove a glass pipe up his dick and then break the glass pipe but why let him die peacefully.. send him out on the street knowing that someone is going to double tap him at one point or another but don't tell him when. I wonder how you would feel if your wife were shot as you were walking out of Home Depot. Or if your dad was shot while pumping gas into his car. Or if, God forbid, your kid was shot at school.

Why not have a little empathy for the victims instead of the crooks.

But therein lies the problem, the more inhumanely we treat the criminal the more we become like them. Doing a bad thing for the right reasons is still doing a bad thing. Crime will get better when we can ensure criminals will be caught. No potential punishment is a deterent if the criminal believes he will never face it.

The threat of punishment is a deterrant to crime. Making the people realize how bad the punishment is make them afraid to commit crimes. Or/and, it'll desensitize the masses and might lead to more violent crimes for entertainment. I don't know, I'm just rambling.

More rambling. Don't they do the same thing with kids in the DARE program and in driver's ed? Show the kids people that are messed up/dead, and leave them with a warning: "this could be you!" I've noticed that insurance companies do the same with young drivers. Does it work? I have no idea.
