Okay.. I finally finished setting up my entire system.. receiver, speakers, hdtv, pvr/cable box, nintendo wii (with component cables)... using my Logitech Harmony 550.
That was a huge bitch.. even Logitech's exellent software screwed up more than once in my jumbled mess that required certain things like the Wii needed the receiver to be on component 2 assigned to VCR while the TV was on component 1.. etc..
Shouldn't, in this day and age, we finally have some sort of remote control standard? Why the fvck should us couch potatoes have to rack our brains just to set up our damn systems.. or jumble multiple remotes around since there's always 1 fvckign setting that cannot be controlled universally. I'm tired of it.
We already agreed pretty much that ketchup packets are too small..
I propose we also agree that the current remote situation with entertainment centers is also CRAP.
Here's what I propose:
- Universal remotes should have infrared and radio control built-in.
- A standard.. call it IEEE 8008.7008.. for all new living room electronics to communicate in terms of control
I don't feel like typing any more since I'm not as annoyed as I was when I started this topic. Sorry.
