I dare you to...

Actually, I dare you to not use the computer (non-work hours) for a week. Let's see if you have cravings like trying to quit cigs. Post your results after a week here.

You can only use the computer to do work. No surfing the web unless its work related. No gaming unless it's work related. No chatting / email unless it's work related.

- What day did you stop craving?
- What was your first day like?
- What did you do in place of your computer time?

I think either none of you will take the dare or quit after a few days or hours.

However, if you pass, did the experience change your computing habits?

Just to let you know, I failed the test already.

I suffer withdrawl. being away from a computer happened involuntarialy.

I don't think I could function without e-mail. It is a primary mode of communication with friends and family. I could go without the web for entertainment for a week.

If I can't check my personal email at work, I'd be screwed. And I'd have to be allowed to use the computer for school too.

i've done it when i've gone up to the mountains. actually i find that i don't even think about it while i'm gone and when i get back, the internet seems really boring for a few days, until it's soothing boringness once again takes control of my soul and the addiciton grows strong again.

I'm in.

I'll still check email, but that's the only aspect of computing to which I'm not addicted. I only do it every couple of days.

Wait a minute, does that mean no messing with hardware? Yeah, 'cause I'd have to test stuff.

*grumbles* Ok, (sigh) I'm still in.

Bust me if you see me.

Not a chance.

I'm writing a piece of software at the moment, and all my spare time is taken up with that. There's no deadlines, but it's not something i want to stop doing.

i am on the computer way too much. granted it was 1998, but i went to london for a week and i was ok with no computers.

especially now, since i'd be using them at work, i am pretty sure i could do it.
