Ok, by crashed I mean I rear-ended an SUV with a trailer hitch mount (luckily no hitch attached) at about 2-3 mph. (Flash storm and hail. She stopped, but I just slowed. By the time I saw her stopped, I couldn't quite stop due to standing water by that point). There was no damage to the suv of course.

Luckily, all it did was ruin my plastic nose cone. If it had been an inch taller, it would have been in the (thin) aluminum hood.

Anyone want to guess the cost of a nose cone + chrome trim replacement on a Tesla? Bear in mind that despite being a gloss black plastic piece that is identical on all cars, the replacement part is unfinished.

Having had the front bumpber on our Lexus replaced recently due to someone backing into it in a parking lot I'm going to guess that it is more than what ours cost. I'm going to guess $3,000? It cost $2,000 to replace the front bumper cover and trim and repaint it to match the rest of the car.

my guess was going to be 2k at least. when i messed up the bumper on my genesis coupe it was like 1200 to fix, and that was with a refurbed bumper, not an OEM one.
 
It was $1050 for oem nose cone and oem chrome after painting/finishing and installation.

The chrome on mine, sadly, was damages so that was an extra $200 part. The good thing is, if you look at the nose cone, it is the only black part on the front of the car, so there is no paint matching to speak of (even on a black car, it's gloss vs metallic I think. Anyway, I was *very* glad to have the "old" design since the new would involve the same thing that Jules posted above. The new front doesn't have the smaller center cone and is all body matched. The nose itself pops off (the 12V terminals are behind it), but the part around it was replaced too.
