Goddamn it people. This is pissing me off now. At least of those who say "I could care less", do you realize it's meaningless? I understand if you're taking shortcuts when on the net, as we all do, but I just have to make sure you ignorant swine realize the phrase is "I COULDN'T CARE LESS". ARGH.

And the phrase is "you're an idiot", not "YOUR an idiot".

Dammit!

I couldn't care less about someone saying could or couldn't...means the same damn thing...

Where's my damn coffee.

Skoorb - Calm down and have a cup of coffee. Or maybe have one less. And I could actually care less, but I'm too lazy too waste the energy.;)

Your an idiot.

J/K. It hurt for me to even type that. Mistakes like those glare at me when I see them too.

EDIT: Oh yeah, does it also irk you when people use "then" when they mean "than"?

Both misused phrases irritate me, but I understand could/n't a little more than your vs. you're. Come on people, you're was taught in kindergarden!

Bad speeling is one thing, poor grammar is another.

Almost as common as the there/their/they're problems...and to/too...maybe it's an ' (apostrophe) problem (or is it A ' problem ;) ). Tricky little beast.

Too difficult, lazy, or ignorant? or is it to? ;)

Edit: I could care less, but I don't. :)

i say "could care less" because chances are I actually can. I just say that as a means of letting whoever is talking to me know that I atleast hear what their saying.

You mean what "they're" saying :)

Sometimes "I could care less" has meaning - like when you honestly COULD care a little bit less, but possibly not much. But most people use it instead of "couldn't". It doesn't mean the same thing tho!

If someone says to me "I could care less" it means the same as "I couldn't care less" Therefore it means the same thing. I don't care what they actually said, I only care what they meant. If you care what everyone says and take it literally, you would be an anal, uptight, crazed maniac. I don't care, they mean the same thing.

I still need coffee.

I'd never actually heard the phrase 'could care less' before I joined AT, if you don't care at all about something then you 'couldn't care less'
That doesn't really bug me, but I am a bit of a grammar nazi when it comes to there, their, they're and your, you're.
Also, what is the deal with people putting apostrophes on every word that ends with an s.
"I have some CD's" makes no sense.

This is a battle I have given up.
The biggest ones that bother me now are accept/except and effect/affect.
Well, and the whole could of/could have thing.
Argh. People are maddening.

Sure, in reading it. But if you were saying it to me it would sound normal...unless you can't speak either.

In case you hadn't noticed everything on AT is conveyed with words :)

Actually I'm not sure I understand the could of/could have differences, but I don't make the other mistakes you mentioned. How many posts is this thread up too now? :p

I thought you said you hate it when people "say" that. But it doesn't matter really, it doesn't bother me either way. This line however "OK, Eye see you're point, butt dont you C that even tho u r able to understand my centence hear, it comes of as vary annoying?" Is very annoying but is not "could or couldn't". 2 different things.

Well, anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's ALWAYS supposed to be "could have." I think the whole "could of" thing comes from the verbal shortening of "could've."
But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
'Cos I don't.

"I could care less", meaning: I don't care already but I could care less as I am posting

"I couldn't care less", meaning: I absolutely don't care about this, but I cared enough to post on it

Notice how the first expression makes more sense as the second expression is ALWAYS hypocritical. How can you say you couldn't care less when you cared enough to post or read the original post to begin with.

I think, for the most part, both phrases are interchangeable because they both have the bottom line of this: "I DON'T CARE". No matter which phrase you use that is what you mean.

Also, I make the "your" mistake a lot, just because when I first started typing online I never bothered hitting the ' key. Now I hit it more often but for some reason I still pass it up when it comes to "your".

Oh yea, and the thing that bothers me most is people that use "u" instead of "you". Why? Because, in my experiences, people that type "u" are usually annoying to listen to. "U" is like a trigger for a bazillion typing errors, stupid hax0r speak, and other lame crap that follows.
