My dilemma is that I am looking for a good video card that is an AGP and has video out. My current card is a Radeon 9600XT and I found this card a Sapphire Radeon X1650.

With the mail in rebate it is only $61 including shipping. I was just curious if this seems like a good upgrade.

Thanks for the help!

I am looking to upgrade other than just to TV capabilities, but the features I would need/want are video out, a little on the cheaper side, and specs than my current card (obviously).

The x850xt platinum is the only AGP card I know of that would beat the one suggested.
For that price , I'd go for the above.

If you don't have the budget that X1650 Pro is a good card you can expect at least a 600mhz core from.

If you can get a larger budget go balls out for $150 shipped with $30 MIR for $120 after shippng and MIR and get this

The X1950GT (as recommended above) is definately going to beat the 7600GT, although it's also $20 more.

Here's a good resource with all of these cards benchmarked:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...6&model2=735&chart=287

The 7600GT and X1950GT are there... so is the X1650 Pro, although their X1650 Pro is clocked much higher.... 620/1400, the one you're looking at is clocked only 450/1300.

If you're really gaming a lot, then the X1950GT is going to be worth it. If you're looking for a general-use card with a little gaming on the side, the 7600GT is probably fine (depending, also, on what resolution you game at.)

It will be considerably faster.
Heh!

I just replaced my beloved Built by ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with the same identical card - no kidding! Just got done updating the System Rig in my Sig...

I only got it Friday, and haven't had a chance to try the TV out, but it looks great on my Dell 1907FP.

Basically, this card is a replacement for the aging GeForce 6600 GT, et al... about the same size as a 6600 GT... even has a 6600 GT fan.

Nvidia has been uber happy with the 7600 GT, from what I've read, and claims it has a LOT of life left in it! I agree! :)

Really, the biggest reason I bought this thing is because it's got black PCB (yes, I'm a case pimp). It's small, black, performs V nicely, and won't break the bank. That's what I wanted, and that's exactly what I got... :D

XFX drivers suck - all grainy and sh!t! If you buy one of these, make sure to download the latest drivers from Nvidia themselves, not XFX!

So I just doubled the amount I want to spend, but found a great video card for my system... Now the question is do I want to fork out the cash for the X1950GT...

Why were you DLing drivers from the card vendor? You should always go to Nvidia or ATI for your video card drivers, unless the vendor tacked on some specialized A/V hardware that needs specific drivers.

If money REALLY is an issue - not just being a cheapskate...

I'd go this route: No-name generic NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT - $55

Matter of fact, I did "go for the above" - the XFX 7600 GT 560M...

Er...

Did I tell you that the XFX 7600 GT comes with a transferable double-lifetime warranty (with registration), so when you go to sell it, the buyer will also get a lifetime warranty on this card (with registration)? That alone is worth the price of admission, IMHO :D

Curiosity...

I haven't owned an Nvidia card in years, and wanted to hate it!

LoL!

Any other dumb questions? :D

No it is me just being cheap well I would call it frugal...

So on that vain, what is the best bang for the buck of the cards that were mentioned here?

I can buy any of them, but I want to be smart about it. I know that the best card is not always the most expensive but sometimes it is.

Uhm, thats not a no name 6800XT. It's one of the few cards ever actually made by Nvidia @_@ . And that cooler is made by SilenX ( there are cheaper routes if a no name company wanted to make maximum proffit ).

They gotta get rid of them excess NV4x GPU's some how. Otherwise it's lost proffit.

I'm sure they got plenty of NV4x GPU's left over from all them pointless mid G70 NV4x refreshes. Thats what you get for continuing to make a last gen GPU when you're already making your current gen GPU as well.
