Yesterday, I went to a strip mall for lunch at a Chinese buffet. I pulled into the parking lot, and was waiting for my buddy to show up, he's usually late, but yesterday he arrived about 45 sec's after me. So instead of sitting in my van, and doing some work on my notebook, I get out and go inside. I wasn't inside more than 2 min's when, a light pole about 40ft tall snaps off at the ground, and falls directly on the top of my van, crushing the roof into the dash, and one of the transformers goes thru the window. Glad I got out when I did, I'm sure the van is totalled, it was a company van anyway. I took the rest of the day off.

Yikes! Glad the timing worked out. Do you think your friend will be on time more often from now on?

And one time at bandcamp.....

~The rest of the story~

then I won the lottery but a old guy in a wheelchair beat me up and stole my ticket. As he was wheeling away, the ground opened up and swallowed him alive. It spit the ticket back into my hand. I ran back to the lottery place to claim my money, but then a bus load of ninja nuns jumped out, kicked my ass, and took my ticket. Then a telephone pole fell on their getaway bus, crushing them and the lottery ticket into oblivion.

Light poles are intentionally weakened at the base so as to minimize injuries in the event a motor vehichle strikes the pole. Evidently this one was over done.

Congrats on living by the way.

that sounds lame.. minimizing injuries to the car that hit the pole, but in turn, the light pole falls and strikes 2-3 other cars and crushes them to death....

btw, glad you got out in the nick of time. next time, wait inside the restaurant for your friend to be on the safe side... ;)
