"I could care less"

I realize that I'm being anal here, but does it bother anyone else when people use this phrase? The correct phrase is "I could NOT care less". Do people even listen to themselves and understand what they say? Apparently not, because if they did, "I could care less" wouldn't be used so frequently.

Any other phrases out there that are very often used incorrectly?

Repost of a repost of a repost. BTW you might have misunderstood what they said. They could have said "I couldn't care less" really fast.

For the number of reposts that this subject has gotten you'd think people would get it right, but NOOOOOOOOO. This is one of my pet peeves also.

What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You can quote a TV show. That is so cool

Ha - I figured I'd get these sorts of replies. You can tell who the people are that say/type it wrong 😀

Thank you.

I agree with you but it's a pointless argument. I would also like to beat people in the head who write "could of" and "should of". fvcking morons.

Yes. Bugs the crap out of me. Even intelligent and well educated people seem to use it at times, which baffles me. Nonetheless, it does bother me less than the incorrect usage of their/there/they're, which just says to me public school educated

Irregardless of you're opinion, I could care less. Their are more important things in life to worry about.

Uh - this isn't my opinion. It's fact about how our language works. There are legit cases for using "I could care less" (some shown in this thread), but most of the time people use it incorrectly when they really mean "I couldn't care less".

Regardless of your stance on the issue, I'll be the one to point out the formal invalidity of the word "irregardless".

As with any thread pointing out grammar deficiencies, most responses are overly defensive, as if not caring about one's linguistical ignorance somehow excuses it.
