I contacted Enermax about the availability of the Revolution 85+.

I have decided to purchase an Enermax Revolution85+ 950w or 1050w psu after 1 month of research. The performance is impressive, comes with a 5 year warranaty, and I really like how it looks. I plan on upgrading to GTX470 sli and have always wanted a modular psu. I haven't been able to find either psu in-stock anywhere. I got frustrated and decided to contact Enermax. Here is the result:

Hi Peter,

We've had a worldwide shortage of Revolution85+ due to increased demand.

Should be available at major online retailers by the end of next week.

Thanks & Regards,

Message: Hi,

I can't find your Revolution85+ 950w and 1050w power supplies in-stock
anywhere. I regularly check all of the major online vendors and they are all
out-of-stock for a while now. Did you stop producing them? Thanks.

Peter

I didn't realize a psu with this price tag would be so popular. I did some research into that and found the reason this could have happened. It looks like around September or October, the 1050w model had an $80 rebate, bringing the price down to $149. I can only imagine the number of units they sold with this promotion. It looks like I will be able to get my hands on one shortly. 🙂 I am just happy to find out that they didn't stop producing them.

They are decent. I own 3 950. The last one has a S/N > 95xxxxxxxx so it's compatibility with the EVGA 760 MB isn't an issue. But all in all, I like them.

I do however also own a Seasonic X 650 Gold, and the performance specs are really nice. At low watt pull (~ 70watts - idle watts), it gets 89.9% efficiency.. Then it stays above 90% efficient all the way to 588 watts. Now that is fantastic. It only gets better when you see the voltage ripple suppression: Seasonic review

They had a bunch of rebates on all of the Revo series. I got my 950 for $175.

They really are nice PSU's if you can get over the price tag. I bought mine solely for it's appearance (knowing it was a good PSU) because it fit well with my build theme. I've been very happy with it and the fan is just as quiet as my other Seasonics. I also run an EVGA e758-A1 and had no issues.

I would also be wary of Provantage. While I have ordered things from them in the past, they wouldn't even respond to emails inquiring about the Revolution. When I was ready to order the Revo, Provantage was the only place that had them "in stock". After 4 emails, all unanswered, I went elsewhere. They have always had the Revo's cheaper than anywhere else, but I'm not buying a $200'ish PSU from someplace that can't be arsed to answer a single email before I give them that much money. Some abstract chart that says other people got them in 2 weeks is a bit ridiculous. I'm not super impatient. A simple email that would take 5 minutes of their time stating how long it would likely take would've been fine.

Edit--

One other thing you might want to consider. If you plan on sleeving the PSU, you will likely want to punch stuff after trying to get the pins out of the hardwired PCI-E leads. I wound up half-***ing it, sleeving only the non-black wires. I tried for hours to get those pins out to no avail.

I concur with the warning about Provantage. I order ten pieces of RAM from them when their web site was showing 42 in stock, and they only sent me three, and backordered 7. Well, after being "backorder" for a while, their web site shows stock again, but my order is still mysteriously "in progress" with no second tracking number for over a week now. My partial order seems to be in limbo with these bozos.

Thankfully, CostCentral got the RAM back in stock too, and I ordered ten pieces, and I had them in my hands in less than a week. Plus, CostCentral was cheaper, and had free shipping.

I almost bought the 950 there 1 month ago when they were showing 3 in stock. Good thing I held off. Those "left in stock" counters that websites use seem to be highly unreliable. How about if the product is sold out just displaying a "sold out" message. We really don't need to know how many are left in stock. I know that it is used to create urgency on the part of the consumer. Usually, it deters me rather than motivate me. I am going to wait a week until some reputable websites have them in stock, and then buy the 1050.

got my 1050 right when that rebate program started. frys was supposed to get them in stores a long time ago, but we never did, and they went to special order right after that, now they're available only on frys.com or if you actually come into the store and mention it, we didnt have it listed in our shelf schematic again until just last week lol. zipzoomfly, the site i got mine from, currently lists the 850 and 950 as discontinued, and the 1050w 85+ and 1250w galaxy evo as both out of stock. sucks for anyone who wants to get one big time. i should also mention that while that $80 rebate was going, ZZF also had these on sale for $70 off. i never sent in the rebate, but if i had, i would have only paid $150 for this unit all in all, shoulda sent it in lol. still not the best PSU deal i have ever had however, that has to go to the Topower Powerbird 900w i got today on clearance @ frys for $70, to use in my 3rd multiGPU compute box 😀

ed: looks like newegg has em in stock! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194039

Hi Faxon. You are in my HAF X thread also. I did purchase a Corsair 850HX. I couldn't wait for the Enermax any longer. It did come back in stock at a few places at prices that are a little too rich for my liking. I purchased the Corsair on Newegg for $139.99 after a $20 rebate, which I did mail! 🙂 The Corsair will be fine for what I need it to do.

This, the Seasonic X series PSUs are amazing. I'd get one of the new X-850 ones coming out.
